We’ve started working on a standardized shutdown and start-up procedure across our stores to improve consistency and reduce unnecessary energy use.
By making sure equipment is properly shut down at night and only essential systems are running, we’re cutting down on wasted energy. On the start-up side, we’re focusing on bringing equipment online in a controlled way so we’re not overloading systems or running things longer than needed.
We’re also having teams do quick walkthroughs at close and open to catch things like lights left on, equipment running unnecessarily, or maintenance issues that could impact efficiency.
In addition, we recently held an energy treasure hunt at one of our stores, where we worked together to identify opportunities and areas for improvement. It was a great way to learn what needs to be done to continue improving our energy conservation efforts.
This has been a strong team effort so far and is helping build better habits while supporting our energy savings goals.
